What are single tooth implants?
A tooth implant is a fixed dental solution designed to replace one or more missing or decaying teeth. There are three parts to a single dental implant:
- The fixture is a tiny titanium screw; this is surgically inserted into your jawbone. This becomes the “tooth root” that holds everything in place.
- The abutment, the middle part that connects the fixture to your new crown.
- The crown, the top part that looks like a tooth, is designed to match your existing and surrounding teeth.
Our Process
1 INITIAL CONSULT & DIAGNOSTICS
After a clear and informative discussion with Aria Dental’s specialist Prosthodontist, we require diagnostic records to be able to create your implant treatment plan accurately.
This involves taking impressions (either moulds or digital scans) of your teeth to construct a study model and a surgical guide for our specialty dental laboratory to design your new implant. We will also take intra-oral and extra-oral x-rays, CT cone beam scans and take numerous clinical photographs. These records are essential for the planning phase and to determine the most appropriate treatment plan and costs for you.
2IMPLANT PLACEMENT
This first procedure involves Aria Dental’s specialist Prosthodontist removing the decayed or unwanted teeth. The dental implants (tiny titanium screws) are then placed into the jawbone in a process known as immediate implant placements. The surgery is completed with any necessary bone and tissue grafting repair. A precise impression of your jawline is then taken to design your bridge/new teeth. In some instances, this may be done immediately and fitted on the same day. Normally a temporary ‘suck-down’ retainer or temporary crown is fitted over the implant screw (so that you can go home with a replacement tooth), and the final process is completed later.
3FINAL CERAMIC CROWN
After a period of healing over approximately three months, you will return for the fitting of the final crown (made of hard, long-lasting and aesthetic ceramic material). The design and manufacture will be completed by our expert laboratory technicians (who ensure everything is correct, based on your dental and facial features and aesthetic requirements); one of our Aria Dental implant experienced dentists will remove the temporary tooth and secure your definitive (final) new crown (and abutment) permanently. You will then be ready to go and show off your brand-new smile!
Single Tooth Implant Pricing
At Aria Dental, the price of an implant fixture, including the placement, the abutment and the crown, starts from $5,500*. Please do note that the price of your specific single tooth implant may vary, as each individual has a different clinical condition and aesthetic needs. FAQ: Single Tooth Implants
We’ve put together some of the most common dental implant questions to help you make an informed decision.
Are Single Tooth Implants Painful?
It may sound painful to get a dental implant, but you’ll be surprised to know that it’s more painful having a tooth removed than an implant placed. You’ll be given plenty of local anaesthetic, and if desired, you can receive sedation.
Are Single Tooth Implants Safe?
All surgical procedures carry some risk, although problems associated with dental implants (when placed correctly by a qualified practitioner) are rare. Dental implants are biocompatible, which means they are not rejected by the body, and integrate well with the bone and gums.
Dental implants are the best option for teeth replacement, but you can read about other options for replacing your missing teeth.
How Long Do Single Tooth Implants Last?
Once a dental implant has successfully fused to the bone and is functional, it should last many years, provided it is cared for properly. Many implants have been in place for more than 40 years.
How Much Are Single Tooth Implants?
It’s misleading to quote the cost of a dental implant as other costs are always incurred. There are X-rays, plus surgical placement, exposure and more. There are also other required parts, such as an abutment and crown, or in the case of all missing teeth, several abutments and a fixed bridge. Approximately speaking, though, the price of an implant, including placement, abutment and crown would be from $5,500* (*Price guide only).
