Aria Dental’s specialist dental implant surgery is the home to Western Australian Principal Prosthodontist Dr Michael Zaninovich.

Principal Prosthodontist, Dr Michael Zaninovich, is one of only two Diplomates of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists in Western Australia and is a registered specialist with the Australian Dental Association.

Internationally recognised for his accomplishments in implantology and a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, Dr Zaninovich and his team use advanced dental implant placement Perth techniques and treatment care.

Aria Dental’s dental implant clinic regularly treats patients travelling from regional, interstate and overseas to benefit from his dental care and expertise. Since completing his specialist doctorate, Dr Michael Zaninovich’s clinical time has been exclusively restricted to surgical and prosthodontic management.

Dr Michael Zaninovich graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2004 being awarded both the Dental School Dean’s Award for outstanding performance in the Bachelor of Dental Surgery and the Endodontics Prize in his final clinical year. He subsequently moved to Perth to be with his family in 2005 and worked for five years in general private practice. During this time, he developed a particular interest in dental implants, oral surgery and full mouth rehabilitation.

Dr Zaninovich completed the Primary examinations in 2005 and received commendations in Anatomy, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Pathology. In 2008, he completed his Secondary Examinations and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.

Keen to further improve his skills and knowledge and provide patients with the best care they could possibly receive, he undertook a three-year full-time specialist training programme in Prosthodontics at The University of Adelaide in 2010. This is the highest qualification that one can obtain for cosmetic and implant dentistry.

Dentistry for Dr Joanne Berry brings her naturally creative mind and personality together with her passion for science. She attended Perth College Anglican School for Girls and worked at LifeCare Dental since 2000, before moving to Aria Dental as the Principal Dentist for Aria’s new local clinical group in 2022.

Dr Joanne originally thought she would become a forensic scientist and studied broad-based science at the University of Western Australia, majoring in Microbiology and Anatomy and Human Biology. She then went on to complete her honours researching the role of a death gene in breast cancer before realising that her passion lay with dentistry.
To be sure that another five years of study would secure her dream job, Dr Joanne began her career at LifeCare as a Dental Nurse and continued in this role until she qualified as a dentist in 2007.

Dr Joanne is a big believer in professional development and has travelled far and wide to be internationally trained and up-to-date with the latest in dental research and development. As well as being qualified in sedation and implant dentistry she is also certified in teeth straightening systems such as Invisalign and Inman.

Personal development is equally as important as professional development and when Dr Joanne isn’t working, she is passionate about travel and loves nothing more than to experience new places, cultures and the culinary delights that come along with them.

To keep a well-balanced life Dr Joanne enjoys exploring the great outdoors by running along the river or beach or even doing yoga. She finds the peace and serenity of horse riding to be a perfect escape from city life.

Dr Alex Foo is an award-winning dentist with multiple international recognitions and awards in cosmetic, orthodontic, and implant dentistry.

Dr Alex is a graduate from Loma Linda University in California, US – School of Dentistry (Implant CE Program). By demonstrating advanced aesthetic skills in Implant Dentistry, he was recognised as a Master Clinician again by the Global Institute of Dental Education.

Dr Alex is dual AU and UK-accredited with a Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Orthodontics. Following this, he underwent Master training with Spanish renown Orthodontists Dr Pedro Deigo and Dr Ivan Madras. As a result, Dr Alex provides 2 premium clear aligner systems: Invisalign and Spark Invisible aligners.

Dr Alex is a certified Invisalign, Spark, QuickStraightTeeth and CFAST braces clinician. By using braces or clear aligners, Dr Foo can straighten and align teeth for all the family – kids and adults.

Dr Alex sought extra study in Bologna, Italy. There he successfully completed Dr Francesco Mintrone and Dr Giacomo Fabbri’s “Immersion in Innovative and new Paradigms in Prosthetic rehabilitation” program – a globally renown Italian dental restorative and aesthetics course in dentistry.

He completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Western Australia and was awarded UWA’s top of the class prize in Prosthodontics and the highly prestigious ‘Dr Thomas E Scott Memorial Prize’ in Prosthodontics of WA.Shortly after he completed an aesthetic prosthodontics program with Dr Tony Rotondo and Dr Michael Mandikos, world-renowned Australian leaders in Prosthodontics in Brisbane, Queensland.Dr Alex has received extensive training from renowned leaders in dental implantology such as Otto Zuhr, Pedro Rodrigues, Simon Oh, Michael Pikos, Juan Gonzales, Egon Euwes and Sascha Jovanovic.

For his significant contributions to the WA School of Dentistry, he was awarded the prestigious ‘Dr Sally Joyston-Bechal Prize’ in General Dentistry.

In advancing his comprehensive orthodontic training, he completed an orthodontics program under the tutelage of an American orthodontist Dr Eric Lowenhaupt.

Dr Alex Foo is committed to his profession as he has mentored many dentists over the years. He is an active member of the Australian Dental Association (ADA), Australian Dental Association Western Australia (ADAWA), Australian Prosthodontic Society (APS) and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI).

On a personal level, Alex is a loving husband and is trying hard to learn Japanese so that he can keep up with his in-laws. He is a passionate climber and soccer player; you can usually find him at Portside boulders on Friday evenings having a snag for dinner.

Dr Kate Yap completed her undergraduate dental degree at the University of Western Australia in 2003. She has worked in the government dental health service in areas such as Rockingham, Ravensthorpe, Bremer Bay and Jerramungup and has extensive experience in treating adults and many children in a rural setting. Dr Yap has had the pleasure of working in a private practice in Karratha and Kalgoorlie and since then, has continued working in private practice in Perth.

Every cosmetic procedure requires the skills of an extraordinary doctor; one that is capable of delivering a high level of technical skills but also high levels of creativity and facial design. Your doctor must be able to envision how a patient’s face can be transformed by a cosmetic treatment and decide which treatment application will produce the desired results by the patient.

Dr Kate Yap is Aria Dental’s expert in facial cosmetic techniques and treatments. Dr Kate Yap completed her dental degree and after years of being a successful practicing dentist, Dr Yap combined her technical dental training and her keen eye for aesthetic procedures to better help her patients achieve the more youthful and beautiful looks they desired.

Muscle Relaxant Injection Treatments

Dr. Daniel Zhang BOH, DMD, MRACDS (PDS)

Born and raised in Sydney, NSW, Daniel completed his postgraduate studies at the University of Western Australia, graduating with a Doctor of Dental Medicine. He was awarded the ‘Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeon’s Academic Prize’ for high academic achievement. Prior to this, Daniel had completed the Bachelor of Oral Health at the University of Sydney and was awarded the University’s Faculty Research Award. Daniel’s experience has led him to numerous private practices and corporate dental practices in NSW but now it’s Western Australia that he calls home.

Daniel enjoys all aspects of Clinical Dentistry and has a special interest in Implant Dentistry, Surgical Dentistry, Oral Rehabilitation Dentistry and High Aesthetic Dentistry. He loves to provide the most calming and comforting environments for all his patients and prides himself on educating as well as learning from his patients. Daniel always strives to provide the highest level of clinical excellence in any treatment he performs to ensure the happiness of all his patients. Dr Daniel works across our Dental Implant team in Midland and Perth CBD.

Daniel is a committed member of the Australian Dental Association of Western Australia and a member of the Australian Prosthodontic Society. He always aims to improve himself in all aspects of his clinical practice by attending courses and keeping up with new research.

One Sunday a month, Daniel volunteers in the Oral Health Centre of Western Australia with the Tzu Chi Foundation WA, providing emergency and routine dental treatment and sharing his passion and generosity with the severely disadvantaged members of our community.

Aside from being a dentist, Daniel loves to stay fit by working out three or four times a week and enjoys maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Daniel also has a strong passion for motorcycles and spends his weekends cruising through various areas of WA, exploring new areas with his fellow riders.

Dr Allan obtained his Bachelor of Dental Science degree with honours from the University of Western Australia in 2009 and was awarded numerous prizes for his academic achievements. Upon graduation he worked in Bunbury under the mentoring and guidance of prosthodontist, Dr. Timothy Yuen where he was exposed to oral implantology at a very early stage in his career. Dr Allan now brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with him back to Perth to work with Dr Michael Zaninovich and the Aria Dental Implant Centre Midland team.

Dr Allan is dedicated to providing high quality dental care. He has an eye for the details, some will even say that he is a perfectionist. He enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, but his particular interests are in prosthodontics (dental implants, veneers, crown, sedation and bridgework),  oral implantology and orthodontics.

Dr Allan possesses a very calm and warming nature and aims to make the visit to the dentist a pleasant one. He believes in a patient centred approach and his goal is to create and maintain healthy teeth and beautiful, personalised smiles. Dr Allan will spend the time to understand each individual, before assessing and recommending an appropriate course of treatment.

Continuing education and professional development are essential to Dr Allan and as such he regularly travels abroad in order to keep abreast with the latest techniques. He enjoys learning from and maintaining contact with the world’s best clinicians.

Outside of dentistry, Allan enjoys spending time with his two young children and lovely wife. He is a diehard West Coast Eagles supporter, F1 fanatic, NBA follower and an avid road cyclist. Some weekends you may even catch him at your local café sporting some well-fitting Lycra.

Dr James (Jim) McCullagh -BDS (London)

Dr Jim graduated from Guy’s Hospital in Central London in 1991 after entering Dental School as a mature-aged student. Dr Jim began his dental career working in a private practice and the NHS until 1996.

He came on holiday to Perth in 1995 and loved it so much that he returned with a view to living here permanently – which he did the following year! Dr Jim built himself an exceptional reputation working in practices in Subiaco, Claremont, Perth CBD, and Byford. In 2000, Dr Jim purchased The Maddington & Armadale Dental Centre, where he set up a successful practice and stayed as Principal Dentist for 21 years. Dr Jim sold his practice in November 2021 and enjoyed a well-deserved break until October 2022, when he joined the Aria Dental Midland team. Aria Dental Midland offers a full suite of general dentistry, dental implant and payment plans.

Dr Jim is a highly skilled general dentist and is happy to consult on a wide range of treatments such as root canals, dental crowns, wisdom tooth removal and sedation dentistry.

Outside Dentistry, Dr Jim tries to ‘hold back the years’ with running and frequent gym visits. He has run three marathons, including the famous New York marathon, and is often seen doing his regular park runs.

Dr Silvio attended The University of Western Australia, where he obtained his Bachelor of Dental Science with Honours. After graduation, he gained valuable experience working in both public and private practices, providing quality treatment tailored to each individual. A recent highlight was when he visited rural communities in Vietnam as part of a volunteer group to provide dental care to orphaned children.

Dr Silvio has seen the difference a healthy mouth and a great smile can make to someone’s self-esteem. With his keen interest in nervous patients, he enjoys instilling newfound confidence through something as simple as a smile makeover.

Dr Silvio has a particular interest in oral surgery, sleep dentistry and keeps up to date with regular professional development. Most recently, he obtained postgraduate certificates in implant dentistry through Loma Linda University and the Cambridge Academy of Dental Implantology.

Outside of dentistry, Dr Silvio likes to train for his upcoming half marathon and ticking new destinations off his ever-growing list of countries to visit.

Dr Jay completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Science degree from the University of Auckland, before graduating with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Western Australia. Dr Jay enjoys all aspects of a general dental practice with a particular interest in preventative, sedation and restorative dentistry. He regularly attends professional development courses to improve his skills, and to be able to provide a variety of treatment options to his patients.

Outside of work, he passionately follows several sports teams and likes to maintain an active lifestyle through regular social sport and recreation. Whenever possible, he likes the adventures and experiences of travelling to new places. Jay loves to meet new patients and working with people to achieve a healthy smile.

After receiving his Bachelor of Dental Science from the University of Manchester in 1997, Dr Nilesh Jadav proceeded with a Master of Science degree in Endodontics with merit in 2005. Ever since he formally began clinic, he has reflected the highest professionalism in his practice.

Showing great commitment, Dr Jadav is also imparting his vast experience to young dentists by tutoring them at the University of Western Australia. When in practice, his dental philosophy is influenced by a minimally-invasive and cost-effective style of treatment. As a dentist in Perth, he receives regular referrals for root canals, implants, dentures, and stress-free sleep dentistry.

Nilesh is passionate about the latest developments. Hence, he always stays abreast of the latest avant-garde dental techniques.

Cosimo Petrucci has been in the dental industry for over 36 years. With extensive experience in the tooth restoration industry, Cosimo graduated as a dental technician in 1985 before opening his own dental laboratory in 1987. He successfully managed his laboratory until 2014, when he and his family relocated to Perth, Western Australia.

Cosimo quickly established his highly skilled reputation in Perth, and in 2016, came to work for Aria Dental’s in-house laboratory Q-Lab, as our Lab Director and Master Ceramist.

Under his mentorship and leadership, the Q-Lab team offers dentists and specialists a wide range of prosthetic restorations. Under Cosimo’s keen eye, our team of dental technicians deliver some of the highest quality prosthesis in the Australian market. With Q-Lab’s digital laboratory workflow, everything is milled and processed in-house, with the aim of delivering short turnaround times, the best quality product and maintaining an affordable price.

Over his career, Cosimo has continually committed himself to education by staying up-to-date with the latest advances in the dental industry. In 2022, Cosimo completed his Dental Prosthetist studies at RMIT University and sees patients by appointment across our Aria Dental locations. Cosimo’s experience and skills allows him to be ready for any dental challenge.

Born and raised in Perth, Adrian Tizzano attended Hale School before embarking on his journey into the world of dental prosthetics. Inspired by influential role models who were dental technicians and prosthetists, Adrian knew early on that dental prosthetics was his calling.

Adrian began his career as a Dental Technician specializing in Prosthetics, a role he held from 2006 to 2016. During this time, he earned a Trade Certificate in Dental Technology and furthered his education with a Postgraduate Advanced Diploma of Dental Prosthetics from Randwick College in 2016, which included implant over-denture qualifications. He graduated as Dux of his class and was honoured with the Phil Harris Memorial Prize for Student of the Year from the Australian Dental Prosthetists Association.

Currently, he serves on the ADPA Advisory Committee and is deeply passionate about all aspects of dental prosthetics. Whether it’s removable full and partial dentures, implant over-dentures, or fixed full-arch hybrid bridges, Adrian is dedicated to finding the best solutions that meet his patients’ needs, expectations, and budgets. He believes in building strong relationships with his patients, allowing him to enjoy his work and the friendships he makes along the way.

Outside of work, Adrian cherishes time with his wife, young daughter, and their two dogs. They love 4WDing, camping, and fishing. Adrian also enjoys maintaining and modifying cars and bikes, landscaping, and home renovations. When he needs a break, you’ll find him relaxing on the couch, catching up on Netflix or watching sport – supporting the Fremantle Dockers, North Queensland Cowboys, and the Western Force.
